Thesis (Ph.D.)--The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, 1992.
The purpose of the dissertation was to provide a descriptive and evaluatory account of the dilemma confronting Christian claims to ultimacy of salvific truth. The dialogical controversies within the post World War II mission and evangelism discussions among Christians of diverse theological persuasion was examined in chapter 2. Examination was made of the paradigmatic shift in missions from a unilateral mission perspective to a six continent world of mutuality in 1961.Subjects--Topical Terms:

Chapter 3 discussed and evaluated the theological and christological controversies surrounding assumptions of absolutes. The issues of exclusivism, inclusivism, pluralism, parallelism, and paradoxism were examined. Crucial within emerging discussions of Christology were the issues of ultimate truth and penultimate truth within dogmatic statements of faith. The discussions between John Hick and Lesslie Newbigin were highlighted.

Chapter 4 discussed the issues pertaining to the socio-human context affecting all religions within the pluralism of the post-dialogical era. This chapter developed an explanation of what was authentic in faith in terms of the mystery of the incarnation, through examining the writing and thought of John N. Jonsson's paradoxism within the study of religion from a phenomenological perspective.

Chapter 5 examined what had become explicit in this dissertation relating to where Christian faith and the mission of the Church need to be, within a post-dialogical era of religious pluralism. This chapter proposed a methodology of post-dialogue for testing faith claims within the sum-total of the pluralistic context of human life.
