Thesis (M.F.A.)--California State University, Long Beach, 2005.

Four choreographic works were produced as part of the Master of Arts degree program in Dance and were performed at the Martha Knoebel Dance Theatre from May 21 through 23, 2004. Disco Fever, 7 minutes 40 seconds, used jazz movement vocabulary to stage a musical theatre number from the 1970s, and Carnevale Veneziana, 5 minutes, used jazz and modern movement vocabulary to reference the Carnival of Venice, Italy. This candidate choreographed both of these dances. You Can't Stop The Beat, 4 minutes, choreographed by Melissa Fierro used jazz movement vocabulary to reference a Broadway production number. I Could Be The One, 3 minutes 30 seconds choreographed by Mylene Manzo, created a dance with a hip-hop style inspired from television. Costumes and lights were designed for You Can't Stop The Beat by this candidate. These works are documented and analyzed in this paper.
