Purpose. To physiologically define female university modern dancers and observe effects over time. Methods. A pre and posttest was administered. Dancers were tested for leg power, upper body strength, aerobic capacity, lower body strength, body composition, flexibility, anaerobic power, fatigue index, energy consumption, and mood. Results . A significant increase in absolute upper (41.54 +/- 10.18 and 43.93 +/- 19.33) and lower body strength (113.25 +/- 16.44 and 123.48 +/- 52.80), weight (kg) (57.8 +/- 5.1 and 58.72 +/- 5.08), absolute anaerobic peak (430.08 +/- 61.24 and 463.92 +/- 58.95) and mean power (340.85 +/- 38.73 and 359.56 +/- 40.74), relative peak power (7.43 +/- 1.01 and 8.00 +/- 0.78), and fatigue index (33.38 +/- 9.72 and 38.91 +/- 7.49). Body composition (18.60 +/- 2.03 and 17.78 +/- 2.49) and maximum heart rate significantly decreased. Conclusion. Modern dancers displayed relatively minor changes but statistically significant over the course of their dance season.
