Community Colleges serve a unique function in the United States system of higher education. While providing a second chance for many individuals who would not be able to continue their education, this specific clientele tends to have low graduation and transfer rates. The purpose of this study is to investigate student satisfaction levels relative to the services the college provides in efforts to identify factors that could influence student retention.

The variables for this study were extracted from the student records system at the Community College of Baltimore County Catonsville and The Noel-Levitz Student Satisfactory Inventory. A nonexperimental analysis was used as the statistical technique for this study. The survey instrument used, The Noel-Levitz Student Satisfactory Inventory, provided a profile of the characteristics of students and their satisfaction with the services provided by the college. This instrument contained two main categories of questions. Section one asked about the student experiences at the college, their satisfaction with college services, the campus environment and instructional services. Section two asked about general student characteristics (gender, race, age, enrollment status, and class load).
