Thesis (M.E.)--The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, 2006.
The purpose of this effort was to research, design, develop, and fabricate a fully functional automatic, multiple chamber programmable unit (MCPC) intended as a countertop-cooking device for the consumer market. The initial device functions and design of the MCPC were conceived as a convenient appliance, comprised of multiple, independently programmable cooking chambers that are able to prepare family meals. To aid in the design of this device, an experimental test stand was constructed to experiment with various heating elements and insulation types. A working prototype was fabricated using the results of the experiments, but a few design flaws remained. A second MCPC was fabricated to rectify the shortcomings. The third MCPC includes an advanced, programmable user interface and a casing configuration that allows greater user access as well as ease of use.
