Thesis (M.A.)--California State University, Dominguez Hills, 2005.
This project was designed to prepare adult learners with a computer skill that would help them qualify immediately for employment. The curriculum and accompanying materials were presented to adults, ages 20 to 67, many of whom had poor basic skills. The effectiveness was evaluated based on the learner's ability to produce work samples in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The evaluation used four-point rubrics to measure the adult learner's skills before and after receiving treatment. The curriculum, developed by the author, was used in the training process for each course objective. The paired t-test results showed a significant gain, supporting the hypothesis that a computer-training skill is beneficial to an adult learner.
