This qualitative single case study focuses on the application of transformative learning theory and emotional intelligence principles in an online community college student success course. Data was generated from student responses to a series of interrelated journal reflections and intentionally framed discussion inquiries online. Assignments were designed to give students an awareness of three principles of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-regulation, and empathy. Transformative learning principles were used to assist students in critical reflection on their individual assumptions and meaning schemes.
