In the present era of massive transformational change, technology, computerization, and the rise of informed consumer power are altering forever the dynamics of the health-care industry. Medical practitioners are realizing that their medical training and knowledge acquired in medical school is proving inadequate to handle the newer business and competitive pressures. Business management and marketing skills are becoming necessary to efficiently manage, maintain, and grow physician practices. This research study explores the degree at which change is making it imperative for physicians to learn and acquire these competencies. It also explores how online teaching institutions and online educators would likely respond to the challenge to impart and deliver content specific programs that meet the business management educational needs of physicians.
