With the immense power of computer generated visual effects, countless filmmakers are now able to visualize their most creative visions and share them with the rest of the world, whether creating a herd of dinosaurs running in the jungle or a simple white bird feather dancing in the wind, whether re-enacting the devastation of a natural disaster or enhancing the cruelty of a WWII battle scene. Today, almost everyone is aware of the existence of digital visual effects in film; yet not many people know the complexity of combining digital elements with live action footage or so-called digital compositing. For years, I have been concentrating on this area. To better explain my area of study, I will first briefly present you with compositing's history and methods.
