520 $a In the first half of this thesis, we classify certain operator algebras which are associated with continuous tensor product systems. These operator algebras (called spectral operator algebras) are related to the spectral $- algebras introduced by Arveson, which are in turn continuous analogues of the Cuntz $- algebras ${ \cal O}\sb{n},\ n=2,3,\cdots\infty. $ This is a significant step towards a complete classification of spectral $- algebras associated with divisible product systems.
520 $a In the second half, we investigate the relations among a standard $- semigroup $\ alpha $, its associated product system $, a normalized unit $u \in E\sb{\alpha} $ induced by $\ alpha, $ and a unit $- semigroup $\ alpha\sp{u} $ associated with u. It is shown that $\ alpha $ is conjugate to $\ alpha\sp{u} $ and that $\ alpha\sp{u} $ and $\ alpha\sp{v} $ are conjugate if there is a product system isomorphism that carries u to v. This result combined with Arveson's classification of automorphisms of divisible product systems proves the equivalence of conjugacy and cocycle conjugacy for completely spatial $- semigroups in standard form, which was first proved by Powers.
