A fundamental particle cannot have an electric dipole moment (EDM) unless both the time reversal (T) and parity (P) symmetries are broken. Therefore the measurement of a such a moment is of great fundamental interest. We have measured the electric dipole moment of the thallium atom to be Subjects--Topical Terms:
