This thesis explores the significance and importance of finding authenticity in education, and how an urgent change is necessary in our school system. I discuss what progressive education is, and the potential it has to offer. Furthermore, through an autobiographical perspective as a student and teacher, the thesis reveals how our old system has failed us and continues to plague students. In education if we want to achieve optimal possibilities for our learners, a transformational shift needs to occur so that each could embrace the nuances and realities of our ever-changing society.
