Managing information technology in an organization is a complex subject. The changing nature of technology is at the core of the many challenges faced by IT managers and directors. In addition, each type of organization has varying needs with regard to technology and, therefore, will need different strategies to manage the technology, the information technology staff, and the customers--- whether they are internal or external to the organization or both.

It is important for IT managers to have sources to exploit in order for them to define a strategy that fits their organization without compromising the service to their customers. The strategy must be flexible enough to adapt to changes within the organization but not so loose that it becomes undependable. The purpose of this research is to provide some guidance for IT managers and help them to find sources that lead them to effective management and delivery of technology services to their organizations.
