The effects of special medication packaging and verbal feedback on psychiatric outpatients who consume too much of their antiparkinsonian medications was examined. Following a 4-week baseline during which 9 psychiatric outpatients received their medications in a standard vial, the participants received their antiparkinsonian medication in a regimen card packaging system for 3 weeks, followed by a return to baseline for 3 weeks using the regimen card, and a further 3 weeks with the regimen card. During the implementation of the regimen card special packaging technique, there was a tendency for medication abuse among patients to decrease to more appropriate and safe levels of consumption in comparison to baseline and return to baseline phases.Subjects--Topical Terms:
