Thesis (D.M.I.T.)--Lawrence Technological University, 2010.
Global outsourcing of information technology functions has become a major tool used by organizations to increase or maintain competitive market positioning. One often overlooked in determining an organization's level of success from outsourcing is the negative impact on the behavioral and emotional well-being of surviving employees, often referred to as survivor syndrome. There has been very little empirical research published to provide organizations with tools to better understand the symptoms of survivor syndrome and how to more effectively manage them before, during and after the implementation of outsourcing. This research investigates the application of a model that can be used by organizations to decrease the emotional insecurities of surviving employees, thereby, increasing the organization's ability to effectively manage survivor syndrome symptoms. The model is called the Realistic Outsourcing Preview (ROP) and is adapted from the Realistic Downsizing Preview model developed by Steven Appelbaum and Magda Donia.
