Thesis (M.A.)--University of Wyoming, 2010.
This study uses quantitative methods to examine relationships between social media site use, year in college, age, age when respondents began using social media, and preference of social media sites. The Adult Playfulness Scale is utilized to determine playfulness' impact on social media site use. Findings show respondents with higher-than-average playfulness levels attend to social media sites longer than those with average or below-average playfulness levels. Females display higher playfulness levels than males across the Emotional factor. Data suggest female respondents with higher playfulness levels attend to social media sites longer per day. The characteristic could be leveraged by marketers attempting to access female shoppers.
