The world has needs and challenges that normal business and government cannot meet, accomplish, or overcome. When these institutions cannot provide the help, funds, and resources needed, the attention of the people and entities shifts to volunteers and greater humanity for help. Leadership is the answer to the success of these charitable projects. Many studies and a vast amount of research have been conducted on leadership, but very little has been done to help the leaders of volunteers.

520 $a This thesis not only identifies that there is a lack of leadership, but it also proves that by educating the leaders the success of volunteer projects will improve. This study surveyed participants in order to validate the initial observations of a lack of leadership. The results helped to identify the specific deficiencies. A leadership manual was created and implemented to provide a tool for education, touching upon each of the four main deficiencies for leaders of volunteers. The participants were then resurveyed and the results were compared to the initial survey data. This study shows that through leadership education of volunteer leaders, there is an increase in the project's success and volunteer satisfaction.
