Thesis (M.A.)--University of South Carolina, 2010.
Through the lens of modern rhetorical theory, this thesis investigates the changes that have occurred in the corporate culture of Nucor Steel. In the world of American manufacturing, Nucor is driving force behind public policy and industry standards. Since its success has been attributed by noted business analysts to its culture of discipline and performance, it has become the model for other organizations wishing to establish a similar cultural environment. When corporate texts are placed into conversation with theories of identity construction and power, a distinct culture-rhetoric emerges and offers a window into how corporate cultures are produced and reproduced.
