Thesis (M.S.)--Tarleton State University, 2009.
Vitazyme has been demonstrated to increase yield in row crops; however, the effects of Vitazyme on turfgrass have not yet been documented. Vitazyme alone and in combination with a complete fertilizer was applied to TifSport and Princess 77 bermudagrasses at Tarleton State University. In 2007 and 2008, Vitazyme's effects on turfgrass were evaluated in the presence of applied traffic stress or induced drought stress. Treatment effects were measured using a Field Scout CMRTM 1000 chlorophyll meter, visual quality ratings, digital image analysis, and mean dry shoot and root weights. In the 2008 Princess 77 field trial, fertilizer alone and in combination with Vitazyme significantly increased color, quality, percentage of cover, and turf dry shoot density when compared to non-fertilized plots. However, fertilizer in combination with Vitazyme treatments were not significantly different from fertilizer alone treatments in most instances. Dry mean root weights were significantly greater in the untreated control.
