Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Arkansas, 2008.
The performance of Metal and Punk music in Fort Smith, Arkansas has created two distinct music communities that resist anonymity and powerlessness within the larger population in two divergent manners. Metal and Punk communities have their own structures, internal power struggles, and values. They manipulate symbols, and both populations actively work to sustain group cohesiveness.
