This project examines the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of non-farm agricultural influentials related to the conservation technology of intensive rotational grazing (IRG), focusing on three questions: (1) Which communication channels have Wisconsin's non-farm influentials used to learn about intensive rotational grazing; (2) Were agricultural influentials' perceptions of community norms associated with their attitudes toward intensive rotational grazing; and (3) Did influentials differ in their acceptance of intensive rotational grazing according to their dairy industry-related occupation?

520 $a A census of Wisconsin's non-farm agricultural influentials earned a response rate of sixty-eight percent. Influentials used print, personal and other channels to learn about IRG significantly more than did non-influentials. Influentials who perceived farmers in their community as accepting IRG were more likely to accept IRG. Influentials who perceived their business and professional colleagues as accepting IRG were more likely to accept IRG. Occupation was not a robust predictor of support for IRG among influentials.
