The purpose of this study was to explore the challenges and successes of organizations in both planning and providing physical activity (PA) opportunities for youth in Edmonton, Alberta. Using a case study approach (Stake, 1995), 13 representatives from 11 different youth organizations were purposefully sampled. Data were collected via interviews and analyzed using inductive content analysis. Analysis revealed five themes in three main categories. These categories were (a) strategies facilitating program successes: (b) challenges impeding program success: and, (c) future considerations for program development. Overcoming staffing challenges and streamlining organizational resources through a variety of partnerships may enable agencies to focus more on the promotion of physical activity.
