The survey was distributed to 374 female head coaches of NAIA women's sports. A total of 198 coaches completed the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory, Meyer and Allen Commitment Scales, Work Role Expectation Scales, the Work-Family Conflict, and Family-Work Conflict Scales, and two qualitative questions, for a response rate of 53%.

The data was analyzed using Minitab 15. Descriptive statistics, multiple regression, ANOVA, and Pearson Product Correlations were completed.

The Coaches reported high levels of Student Athlete Burnout ( M=68.75, SD=17.82) and low levels of Work Burnout (M=43.60, SD=7.71). Multiple regression, ANOVA, and Pearson Product Correlations showed Work Role Expectation and Work-Family Conflict had a significant relationship (p<.05). Multiple regression showed that Affective Commitment, Work-Family Conflict, and Family-Work Conflict were significant predictors for Work Burnout (p<.05). Multiple regression also showed Normative Commitment and Work-Family Conflict were significant predictors for Student-Athlete Burnout.

The responses from the qualitative questions revealed that coaches would like to have had a reduction in their work load. They would have also liked to make their current assistant coaches full-time or allow them to hire full-time assistants.

This study examined various factors of role-conflict and commitment in regards to burnout in NAIA female head coaches. The results show that Work-Family Conflict, Family Work Conflict, Affective Commitment, and Normative commitment were significant predictors for burnout. As well as there is a significant relationship between Work Role Expectations and Work Family Conflict.
