This quantitative, correlational study examined the relationship between the National Association for Sport and Physical Education's 2006 National Standards for Sport Coaches and the career winning percentages of class 5A division one head high school football coaches in Maricopa County. A self administered Likert-type scale survey was used to examine 23 coaches and measuring the amount of time they spend on each of the 40 standards within the 2006 National Standards for Sport Coaches within their programs. Descriptive statistics were used to find differences and Kendall's Rank Correlation was used to examine significant relationships between the standards and career winning percentages. Based on a 56% return, communication was a significant relationship among variables that related to higher winning percentages at a 94% level of significance. Recommendations were made to further examine coaching capacity, athletic program management, and communication with a focus on significant factors identified in this study.
