Thesis (Ph.D.)--Capella University, 2009.
This phenomenological qualitative study examined the motivations and success strategies of Black women business owners. A phenomenological approach was chosen for this study because the goal of this study was to investigate the meaning of the lived experiences of Black women business owners. Individual in-depth interviews were utilized to facilitate the collection of qualitative data via telephone interviews of the participants. Once collected, the audio-recorded and transcribed data were analyzed, categorized, and displayed using Microsoft Office software.
