This dissertation discusses hybrid venture firm performance. The predictors include the complementary and competitive institutional logics of social impact accelerators (SIAs) and hybrid ventures, as well as country-level institutional indicators and founder human capital. In Essay 1, I argue that SIA logics shape hybrid ventures' performance in different ways and that these effects are moderated by both firm logics and founder human capital. In Essay 2, I argue that the effects of the SIA logics not only differ, but also depend on aspects of the institutional environment, specifically the level of managerial discretion and social assistance in countries. Together, the results suggest that the effects of participating in SIAs are contingent upon the institutional-, SIA-, firm-, and entrepreneurial-level characteristics.
