The purpose of this study was to examine the role nature plays in the holistic healing of trauma. The research question guiding this study was: What role does nature play in healing psychological and spiritual wounds from trauma in emerging adults? Utilizing a generic qualitative inquiry-a descriptive qualitative approach-the investigation drew on thematic analysis of in-depth interviews with 11 participants, between the ages of 18-29, who identified as having healed or transformed through their connection or contact with nature. The qualitative analysis of interviews included an examination of participants' personal integration process as it related to the role nature plays in their life and their healing from trauma. Key themes emerged, highlighting nature's capacity to promote feelings of calm, facilitate a safe space for personal reflection, assist in reframing trauma through a spiritual lens, and foster healing connections with plants and animals. Moreover, participants reported a significant shift in their ecological values, mirroring the rhythms of nature, and experiencing physical movement in nature as a form of trauma release from the body. Future research directions are recommended, including exploring the impact of nocturnal nature-based activities and the role of weather conditions in the healing process. This study contributes to the field of transpersonal psychology by deepening our comprehension of the healing power of nature and advocating for holistic approaches to trauma recovery.
