The church in America has faced a trajectory of decline, manifesting a threat that church health systems have not appropriately addressed, and a new approach to this decline was born in the Church Revitalization Movement. Part of this research is to provide a basis of knowledge for those seeking revitalization, including its historical development, a survey of the literature, and analysis of the key contributors in the field. The primary focus of this research is to call revitalizers to employ an often-overlooked aspect of church revitalization, repentance. The Biblical Cycle of Repentance has much to offer contemporary church revitalization projects.
