The purpose of this dissertation is to prove the veracity of the claim that John M. Perkins is a precise fulfillment of what Carl F. H. Henry called for in his theology of social engagement. To prove this claim, this dissertation examines how each theologian synthesizes the doctrines of atonement and kingdom as they relate to social engagement. It argues that Henry and Perkins both fall within an "atonement restoring kingdom" category that helps provide not only a balanced theology of social engagement but also articulates the ways in which Perkins's ministry fulfills the call of Henry's ministry.
