The current dissertation was created to provide educators with current information regarding the impact of educational evaluations delays on state assessments for students with suspected academic disabilities. A convenience sample of 33 participants from a school district in the southeastern part of the United States answered 18 questions and five themes were identified: Multi-Tiered System of Support Model (MTSS), leadership involvement, achievement gap, professional development, and demographics. The researcher aimed to discover if the five themes in this case study affected delays in educational evaluations and state assessments on students with suspected disabilities. There were no anomalies or correlation found between delays in educational evaluations and state assessments for students with suspected academic disabilities. Research Question 1 was used to examine how delays with student educational evaluations impacted students with suspected academic disabilities, and Research Question 2 involved how restructuring the MTSS Model would impact students with suspected academic disabilities. The data presented in the case study did not identify one specific theme that affected the students' academic achievement on state assessments. The researcher determined that adding a fourth tier to the MTSS Model would benefit students waiting to be staffed for exceptional student education services. Educators found they wanted more professional development to provide effective differentiated instruction to students with suspected academic delays.
