People defined as a No Sabo Kid cannot speak Spanish fluently and are of Latino descent. No Sabo is being adopted by different generations, such as Generation Z, and is being claimed as an identity. Depending on the person being asked, Latinos are not necessarily proud of that designation, because of the negative connotations it carries. This study explored the impact of the No Sabo Kid label on cultural identity, sense of belonging, and language acquisition within the Latino community. It investigated the role of motivation, cultural acceptance, and community connection in adult language learning, revealing how adverse experiences influence identity and proficiency. Data were gathered through in-depth interviews and a questionnaire on language and personal experiences. Findings showed that cultural acceptance strongly motivated language learning, while negative perceptions of proficiency led to exclusion. Positive community experiences correlated with higher language skills despite external pressures like English dominance at home. These findings emphasize the importance of supportive environments in fostering language proficiency and cultural identity among adult learners.
