Many elderly people feel unsupported, neglected, and lonely, and have a lack of social connections in the community. The present study is a program resource development about how Art journaling can be used as a therapeutic intervention to help enhance the quality of life for older adults across all life domains. Research on the elderly and their varied life experiences is presented in this dissertation as well as empirical evidence that art journaling can serve as a coping mechanism for the elderly community. The benefits of these activities should be acknowledged and encouraged for older adults. An Art Journaling workshop will be developed as a resource for the elderly and/or their caregivers, direct care staff, mental health professionals, and other service providers who serve the elderly. The workshop will last for six weeks consisting of themes, guided art journaling prompts, information about types of art journaling, and recommended materials. A major focus of the program will focus on the following rehabilitative themes (1) Self-Exploration/Self-esteem; (2) Feelings, thoughts, and emotions; (3) Self-Care; (4) Personal Health, Wellness, and Recovery; (5) Memories, Dreams, and Aspirations; and (6) Socialization. To collect empirical data and make any necessary adjustments for the program's ongoing performance, the program includes pre- and post-assessments. This program aims to provide the elderly and their caregivers/service providers in the community the opportunity to learn more about the benefits of art journaling to help the elderly manage their symptoms and decrease their daily life stressors.
