The unique challenges and culture of the dance industry present many issues that do not exist in most workplaces. Lack of financial stability, oversaturation of workers and lack of jobs, and cultural norms keep dancers from reaching their full potential or productivity within their company. Additionally, authoritarian leadership styles common to the industry prevent dancers from their optimal levels of work engagement and organizational commitment. In this thesis, I assessed the correlational nature of leadership styles, job demands and resources, and how these elements correlated with dancer attitudes related to engagement and turnover intention. In data analysis, I found a positive correlation between toxic leadership and turnover intention, indicative that toxic leadership increased dancer negative attitudes relating to wanting to quit their job. Additionally, higher engagement was positively associated with higher job resources, this time displaying a positive outcome for dancer attitudes related to their organization. Lastly, participants rated resources higher than demands and analysis showed a positive correlation between the two.
