Organizational culture has been studied for decades and has proven to be vital in creating the rules of engagement and spaces where everyone feels they belong. For this sense of belonging to manifest, employees must feel psychologically safe and feel their organization cares for them. The research study explored the experiences of 11 employees in the United States workforce and their perceptions of allyship for Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC). The researcher utilized two interview protocols to gain insight into organizational culture from employees identified as White and BIPOC. The data collection revealed seven significant themes from both interview protocols that promoted or impeded allyship in the workplace. Inclusion, exclusion, damage, exploitation, support, emotional drain and allyship were the most significant themes related to organizational culture and was experienced differently by BIPOC and White employees. The results of this study established a foundation for future research regarding the impact of organizational culture on allyship.
