This narrative study was an exploration of leadership skill development and transfer to the workplace based on former collegiate student-athletes' participation in varsity team athletics and a holistic support services program. Six individuals participated in the study by engaging in semi-structured interviews. Sensemaking theory served as the study's theoretical framework due to its emphasis on stories and relevance to the research. The themes that emerged were: (a) working with and leading others; (b) displaying drive to learn, grow, and excel; (c) adjusting to change and being adaptive; and (d) navigating the leadership journey. A scarcity of literature existed on leadership skill development and transfer to the workplace based on undergraduate collegiate athletic participation. Additionally, the college of focus had not previously conducted research on their athletic alumni, so this study addressed gaps in the literature as well as a lack of relevant data. Implications for practice are provided based on the findings as well as recommendations for future research.
