Traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) have become a central focus due to their negative cognitive and neurological consequences, especially in an adolescent's social development and academic functioning. This may increase their susceptibility to neurological illnesses and lower their threshold for sustaining future TBIs. One major factor in prevention is accumulating data on populations with TBI, especially in Chinese Americans. This study aims to systemically review the literature for relevant cultural frameworks to inform clinicians working with Chinese American adolescents with TBI, as well as identification of the lack of literature in the Chinese American adolescents' demographics with traumatic brain injuries. 74 articles with defined keywords were collected from online databases. After using inclusion and exclusion criteria, the articles were categorized in accordance to two primary categories: Chinese American adolescent (mental health, culture, coping) and TBI (symptoms, assessment, intervention), followed by a thorough analysis. The findings highlight common themes found in the literature analysis, such as sampling and methodology differences. Both categories of literature shared data acquisition via self-reports from study participants and caregivers, whereas differences were found in gender and age sampling. Due to the lack of literature on Chinese Americans adolescents and TBI, the intent of this literature review is to help aid clinicians in providing the best care based on the information received from mental health seeking and treatment for Chinese American adolescents in order to tailor the interventions for TBI.
