The purpose of this dissertation was to develop a strategy of evangelism to address a culture of the twenty-first century that is influenced by worldviews such as intersectionality. The worldview of intersectionality was used as a case study to understand the challenges the church faces for evangelistic engagement. An evaluation of intersectionality was done to identify the impact of such a worldview on the church and the church's evangelistic work. The evangelistic ministry of the apostle Paul was investigated to extrapolate evangelistic principles to form a twenty-first-century approach to evangelism. A metric was developed for the twenty-first-century church to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses concerning an evangelistic approach toward culture. The metric was compared to the components of postmodernism found in Will McRaney's The Art of Personal Evangelism and Sam Chan's Evangelism in a Skeptical World.Nine principles were identified in the evangelistic ministry of the apostle Paul that aid in the development of a twenty-first-century evangelistic approach. First, the principle of cultural intelligence revealed the importance of understanding one's ability to engage a culture in a manner that moves beyond knowledge alone and incorporates the ability to engage in a manner that is natural. Second, the principle of the sufficiency of Scripture distinguished the importance of trusting the Word of God alone to set the parameters of life and guide evangelistic engagement. Third, Paul used reason in his evangelism and modeled the importance of being able to speak logically when sharing the gospel. Fourth, the principle of unity at the cross showed the importance of living unified beyond cultural barriers with other believers to demonstrate the power of the gospel.Fifth, the principle to maintain a constant gospel message detailed the importance of not changing the gospel message even when approaches of evangelism may alter. Sixth, the principle to practice contextual communication exists. Contextualization responds to the cultural context in a manner that allows for the presentation of the gospel to impact the listener. Seventh, the apostle Paul demonstrated the importance of continual discipleship in his evangelistic work. The twenty-first-century church must practice a form of continual strengthening of new and mature believers to support the work of evangelism. Eighth, the principle of developing a team provides the needed support within the work of evangelism. The apostle demonstrated the impact of this principle and showed the importance of such an approach. Ninth, the principle of strategy revealed the need of the church to develop a strategy for evangelism that aids in the focused attempt to reach the culture for Christ. The principles of the apostle Paul in the first century provided needed evangelistic principles for the twenty-first-century church and the work of evangelism.
