The primary objective of this research was to assess whether Fitness/Health club's nutritional services/staff/amenities correlate to their members' general and sports nutritional knowledge. Fitness/Health club members (n = 208) were used for this cross-sectional study. Subjects will be randomly selected from four Fitness/Health club prices (high (personal training), mid-high, mid and low in cost) from the local community. A questionnaire that assesses sports and general nutritional knowledge of the club members was utilized along with the Fitness/Health club nutritional practice pattern questionnaire that was administered to Fitness/Health club directors. A multiple simple linear regression was used to analyze whether Fitness/Health club's nutritional services/staff/amenities correlated to their members' general and sports nutritional knowledge. General nutritional knowledge was significantly associated with number of consultations with a club registered dietitian (F = 7.22, p < .01), number of consultations with an outside registered dietitian (F = 10.03, p < .01), number of seminars attended in the club (F = 3.19, p = .02), and number of seminars attended outside the club (F = 2.71, p = .05). Sports nutritional knowledge was significantly associated with number of consultations with a club registered dietitian (F = 7.48, p < .01) and number of consultations with an outside registered dietitian (F = 8.35, p < .01). These findings indicate the importance for a registered dietitian in any Fitness/Health club, as it pertains to, promoting useful and reliable nutritional information.
