Many Christian universities in Korea are pursuing the globalization of Christian higher education to promote maximization of institutional competition, improvement of students' English skills, and enhancement of professors' research development through English Medium Instruction (EMI). EMI's flaws in application are not at all uncommon, as many of its student participants and instructors are exposed to an unsystematic curriculum and exhibit limited English proficiency leading to poor comprehension and participation among students. This study is a comparative case study of two Christian universities located in Korea. It examines both the benefits and challenges of globalization for Korean Christian universities. The findings of this study were obtained by interviews with professors and students from two distinct campuses, as well as participant observations of classroom teaching times employing English as a teaching medium. Research led to two broad thematic categories. The first category of benefits includes maximization of globalization, a competitive advantage, and global and multicultural practices. The challenges include commodification of higher education and propensity toward Americanization. Implications from the findings provide educators at Christian higher education institutions in Korea and other Asian countries with practical pedagogical and policy applications for their faculty and students.
