Human life is closely related to nature. An interior space could enhance that connection by visualizing the invisibles: seeing the time through the growth of plants, seeing the rain through the pools being filled, seeing the seasons through dropping leaves, seeing the light through shadow. The relationship between humans and nature, driven by urbanization, seems to be a fresh zone in the modern world. Rain, natural light, gravity, time and so on, these factors bring relaxation and freshness, have an untapped power. This proposal aims to use the connections between the interior spaces with each other and with the exterior by exploring natural phenomena as thresholds. Time, sunlight, gravity, etc., acting as thresholds, influence people obviously and mysteriously. According to Norberg-Schulz, to arrive in a settlement is to experience its place character. The character should answer to the expectations one has before one arrives in the place. The threshold space, as an "articulation between spaces", can close off or open up the access to an interior. It is also a place which is both inside and outside. Freeing architecture, first described by Junya Ishigami in 2018, is a series of research into freedom, fluidity, and the future of architecture. Addressing this concept, Junya Ishigami designed a garden full of trees and pools, a landscape space created by nature, always changing and undeniable in its power and richness. To explore the possibility and ways of natural phenomena implanting into interior space, this proposal will design a space, based on tea-enjoying experience, for people to interact with each other and with their natural and built surroundings.
