Present-day job seekers are putting increased importance on a prospective employer's ability to promote and support work-life balance. As a result, organizations have turned to creating and implementing policies aimed at improving work-life balance and job satisfaction in employees as a way of attracting and retaining talent. This study investigates the correlational relationship between work-life balance and a person's perceived job satisfaction. More specifically, the study will take an in-depth look at how work-life balance and a person's general job satisfaction impact members of various generations. Data were collected through an online survey intended to measure work-life balance, job satisfaction, and generational affiliation. The study utilized work-life balance as an independent variable, job satisfaction as a dependent variable, and a person's generation as a moderator. The hypotheses for this study were that work-life balance would be positively correlated to job satisfaction (H1) and that this relationship would be stronger in Generation Y than in older generations (H2). The sample size consisted of 239 participants who held or previously held a full-time position and who were over the age of 18. The implications of this study will provide valuable insight to organizations looking to manage their generationally diverse workforce more effectively.
