In the current era of globalization, the world has experienced unprecedented changes compared to any era of human experience. It is in these changes that operating in the world has become an increasingly complex phenomena dictated by transnational processes. And, it is in these processes that there are a myriad of complexities, and moreover a plethora of risks. Attempts at navigating such risks due to globalization have therefore prompted the expansion of the risk management industry on a global scale as many such risks can be explicitly understood to be as a consequence of globalization and global geopolitical behavior. Many of these practices have focused on issues concerning economic globalization and global business. However this project seeks to argue that with the expansion of international education and increased popularity in study abroad programming in the current era of globalization, there is an equally expanding market and growing demand for political risk management services for educational institutions. Moreover that risk management products and services could be better tailored for international educational and study abroad programming. This will be substantiated by looking at the case study of the University of California Education Abroad Program, and their risk management system's response to political risks faced by their program in Egypt. This project concludes by explicitly comparing risk management for education with other sectors, and ultimately offers measures of recommendation to improve such services for international education programming.
