- Ann Arbor : ProQuest Dissertations & Theses, 2016 - 80 p.

Thesis (M.A.)--University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, 2016.
Regarding the role of Cultural Impact Statements in Environmental Impact Assessment processes in the State of Hawaii, this paper aims to determine their level of effectiveness. By looking at three separate case studies, it is clear that the indigenous voices recorded in Environmental Impact Statements are often not heeded. This is mainly due to varying levels of colonialism in Western sciences. By removing ethnocentric lenses, non-indigenous scientists and planners will be able to better work with indigenous communities for better outcomes for all people.
