The perceptions of stakeholders regarding the best methods to incorporate an educational intervention were explored through this qualitative action research study in psychiatric rehabilitation programs (PRP) at The Agency (a pseudonym). The overarching question of this study was, "What skills and knowledge are needed to implement an educational intervention at The Agency"? An extensive review of literature indicated specific effectual methods to help improve academic performances. Limited research was available pertaining to effective educational interventions in youth PRP. The main data collection process used in the study was individual, semi-structured, one-on-one interviews with the stakeholders; secondary data collection sources included a field journal, and a demographic sheet. Interviews were conducted with 12 stakeholders including licensed clinicians, school administrators including teachers, and family navigators. The findings revealed eight themes identified as necessary to implement the educational intervention effectively: (a) positive attitudes towards the innovative idea, (b) understanding of mental health symptoms and treatment by educators, (c) Agency staff's understanding of educational pedagogy, (d) development and maintenance of a support system for clients, (e) sensitive development of motivational strategies in clients, (f) awareness of preventative safeguards during integration, (g) development of community partnerships, and (h) awareness of barriers that hamper the effectiveness of the educational intervention. The results indicated that the educational intervention would be a beneficial approach for clients in PRP who struggled with their academics.
