This study is an examination of the claim that the theological method of perspectivalism promoted by John Frame and Vern Poythress is trinitarian, reformed, and useful. Emphasis will be placed upon the first, for if the method is found to be trinitarian, then it should be consonant with theology that is properly called reformed, and it should be useful as an epistemological tool. In order to defend the trinitarian foundations of perspectivalism, this dissertation will distinguish between the two major forms of perspectivalism: general perspectivalism and triperspectivalism.

520 $a General perspectivalism finds its trinitarian foundation in the unity and diversity of God's knowledge. Man thinks according to various perspectives because God, in the exhaustive diversity of His knowledge, knows all perspectives. This is an outworking of Van Til's emphasis on absolute personality in trinitarian theology, whereby the foundation for all of man's activity is rooted in intra-trinitarian relations. In sum, man is designed to think God's thoughts after Him, and God's thought is exhaustive in both its unity and diversity. While man can never embrace either the absoluteness of the unity or diversity, it is through the perspectives provided to man that he can have analogical unity and diversity of knowledge.
520 $a Triperspectivalism is also trinitarian in that the poles of each triad are based on the work of the triune God. The unity and diversity of God's works, however, are anticipated both in simplicity and perichoresis. Historically, simplicity and perichoresis have not been correlated, but Van Til believed both were expressive of the ultimate unity and diversity of the Godhead. This unity and diversity provided for Van Til an explanation for the problem of the one and many in created reality. Following Van Til, we will develop a perichoretic-simplicity model, which aligns the unity and diversity of God's persons with the unity and diversity of God's being. Thus, the unity and diversity of God's knowledge, being, persons, and activity provide the foundation for the perspectivalism found in creation. The dissertation will conclude by suggesting that perspectivalism can be fashioned in a more trinitarian way by integrating order and structure in the triads.
