Thesis (M.S.)--The William Paterson University of New Jersey, 2013.
This study examined the impact of foreign accents on instruction (in English) at the college level in a Northeastern University. It aims to contribute to previous research on whether there is an impact of foreign accent on instruction. This study also identified that East Asian languages as L1 produce the highest level of perceived accentedness in English. This is due the fact that they are tonal languages and differ significantly from English on a prosodic level.
