This research will examine the challenges of appropriately modeling deep sea wind turbine platforms. This research focuses on computational strategies for modeling wave-structure interactions for wind turbines. The research first examines the underlying mathematical basis for inviscid fluid modeling. Following this, the panel method is further explored, and a two-dimensional, free surface panel method is examined. The results of the panel method demonstrate promise for deep sea wind turbine modeling. The panel method tool is designed to emulate many different ocean conditions and can eventually be used to aid in scale testing and designing offshore wind turbine platforms.
