The primary purpose of this study is to improve high school students' literacy skills by combining Lutheran hymns and Kodaly concepts. The research includes a survey by Lutheran grade school teachers, a brief history of Lutheran church music, and a set of five-week lesson plans for high school students. After comparing the results, conclusions and recommendations are made to improve high school literacy skills.
