The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between parents' perception of preschool children's early Information Communication Technologies (ICT) experiences in the home on the dimensions of parent attitude toward the benefits of ICT use, frequency of ICT use, parent attitude toward ICT use, quality of interaction with ICT, and ICT use for emergent literacy and the Individual Growth and Development Indicators (IGDI) emergent literacy assessment scores on the dimensions of picture naming, rhyming, and alliteration. Further, to investigate the relationship between the early childhood ICT experiences and the family demographic variables of country of origin, gender, age, ethnicity, and parents' capacity to purchase ICT, parents' experiences with computers at work, linguistic diversity, years of employment, and educational attainment.

There were no relationships found between the variables of parent perceptions of their children's ICT use and the scores on the Individual Growth and Development Indicators (IGDI) emergent literacy assessment. A significant relationship was found between gender and frequency of ICT use. A strong inverse relationship was found between country of origin and ICT use for emergent literacy. In addition, parent attitude toward ICT and quality of interaction with ICT were strong predictors for ICT use for emergent literacy.
