Building new mythologies was a main project in the emergence of national movements in the modern era. The Zionist project was part of the modern enterprise, and it represented the Promethean passion of Western man; it sought to establish a political reality in the image of the new Jew.In this addition to the Modernism and... series, David Ohana provides a new perspective on nationalism in general and Zionism in particular.
